33rd Annual Athletics Carnival - Friday 5th May

PDHPE

On Friday 5th May the above Athletic Centre will be filled with Narara Valleys’ excited, competitive, and talented students all striving to do their best and help their House win the day.

We extend an invitation to all parents, grandparents to spectate at this major school sporting event.

A program will be available on entry [which is free] that contains all the information you will need to enjoy the event.  Students were issued an information note that included the timetable and site map.

The main purpose of this letter is to outline some organization details that will help you prepare your children and consequently help get the carnival off to a flying start.

The cost for the carnival is $10 which covers bus travel ($5) and entry into the Athletics Centre ($5). Staff will collect money prior to departure from school.

7.30 am   Early morning Events: 400m, 800m, 1500m, 800m Walk & 16/17+ High Jump

Students competing will need to arrange their own transport to Mingara.

8.30am  Buses depart NV and arrive at Mingara 9.10am.

Upon arrival roll call and instructions.

9.30am – 1.35pm  Students compete in track [100m, 200m & relays] and field [Discus, Javelin,

Shot Put, High Jump and Long Jump]

Each event has been allocated 30 minutes.

Students travel to all events under the guidance of travelling teachers.  Once students have completed their first-round event the process will become very clear.

However, moving to the first-round events can be confusing and time consuming.

I have included the names of the teachers travelling with students and the round one events.

Could you please help by going over this information with your children, especially if they are in the younger age groups. See attached.

If students leave early, they will need a note for permission to be granted.

Students are not permitted to come and go from the venue [e.g going to McDonalds].

We advise students to prepare for the weather on the day and unless they access the canteen to bring food and drink.

Good luck to all students. Be fair and respectful whilst being competitive.

GO BLACK SNAKES!

Thank you,

Mr. Bannister & Mr. Wickert
