FAQ's

There are 3 options to be able to advise us of your child’s absence:

  1. Phone (02) 4329 3780 or email nararavaly-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au before 10am on the day of absence with an explanation.
  2. Reply to absent SMS message sent on the day.
  3. Write a note explaining absence and hand into the front office.

Any absence from school must be explained within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence. Attendance is recorded daily and monitored regularly by the school. Correspondence will be sent to parents where attendance is of concern, and these should be address immediately.

When your child is late to school after 8.15am, please send a note preferably on the day to explain why they are late, alternatively, phone or email the school with an explanation.

If the school hasn’t been contacted, an SMS will be sent to explain your student’s lateness.

A note needs to be provided on the day with students name, year, leaving time and reason clearly written. Upon arrival at school, students need to have this signed and approved by a Deputy Principal before roll call and handed into the office when leaving.

We understand on occasions, reasons for needing to leave early may arise, in this instance, please phone the school ASAP.

Students need to attend sick bay to be assessed by one of our first aid trained staff. All appropriate measures will take place once individually assessed including application of ice, cleaning and bandaging wounds etc

If your child needs to be collected, we will contact approved emergency contacts only. Please advise the caller ASAP, who will be collecting your child if you are unable to make it.

Due to our Yondr policy no students should be directly contacting Parents/Carers.

If travel during school term is necessary, discuss this with your child’s school principal. An Application for Extended Leave may need to be completed. Absences relating to travel will be marked as leave on the roll and therefore contribute to your child’s total absences for the year. In some circumstances students may be eligible to enrol in distance education for travel periods over 50 school days. This should be discussed with your child’s school principal.

You should contact the principal as soon as possible to discuss the issue and ask for help. Strategies to help improve attendance may include a referral to the school’s learning and support team or linking your child with appropriate support networks. The principal may seek further support from the Home School Liaison Program to develop an Attendance Improvement Plan.

Please provide a note explaining why your child is out of uniform and which item i.e. shoes.

Upon arrival to school, your child needs to take the note to the library for approval. Once approved, they will receive a pink note which they can present throughout the day.

All uniform information including how to purchase can be found on our website.
