Our extra-curricular highlights

Public Speaking

Public speaking provides students with valuable opportunities to develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills. Students can build confidence, express their ideas and engage with a range of topics while also having the opportunity to compete in local and state events.

Excursions

At Narara Valley High School, students are encouraged to step beyond the classroom and embrace new adventures, experiences and opportunities. Through excursions, overseas trips and cultural experiences, students explore new places, broaden their perspectives and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Creative and performing arts

At Narara Valley High School, our drama, music and visual arts programs provide students with opportunities to explore their creativity, express themselves and develop their individual talents. Students can take part in performances, concerts, exhibitions and a range of creative activities throughout the year.

Community Involvement

Our students are encouraged to get involved in their community and make a positive difference. Through partnerships and community initiatives with organisations such as Coast Shelter, the Australian Red Cross, The Salvation Army and Clean4Shore, students have opportunities to support others, care for the environment, develop empathy and strengthen their sense of social responsibility.

Debating

Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating. They learn to research topics, consider different perspectives, construct strong arguments and confidently express their ideas. Debating also encourages students to listen respectfully, think critically and respond thoughtfully to different viewpoints.

Sport

At Narara Valley High School, our sporting programs provide students with opportunities to develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy being active. Students can participate in a wide range of individual and team sports, representing the school in local, regional and state competitions while developing teamwork, resilience and a strong sense of achievement.

Aboriginal Education

Our Aboriginal Education program is supported by our dedicated Aboriginal Student Support Officer Yaz, who plays a vital role in building strong, ongoing connections between school, students and families. She actively works with local primary schools and the wider community to support a smooth and positive transition into high school, ensuring students feel known, supported and connected from the very beginning.

Yaz maintains a strong presence within our community, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through culture, connection and a sense of belonging. She works closely with families, staff and community organisations to support student wellbeing, engagement and personalised pathways, empowering every student to achieve their personal best with pride in their identity.
