Technologial and Applied Studies
Technology and Applied Studies (TAS) provides students with a wide range of practical, creative and industry-focused learning experiences. Students develop skills through hands-on projects while building their knowledge of design, problem solving, technology, production processes and safe work practices.
Stage 4 (Years 7 & 8)
In Stage 4 Technology Mandatory, students experience a broad range of technology areas including woodwork, textiles, engineered systems, digital technologies and food technologies. These practical learning experiences introduce students to different materials, tools, equipment and technologies while encouraging creativity, collaboration and problem solving.
Stage 5 (Years 9 & 10)
In stage 5 students can explore a variety of elective subjects including Industrial Technology – Timber, Metal, Engineering and Multimedia, Food Technology, Agriculture, Design and Technology and Vocational Education and Training (VET) subjects Hospitality, Construction and Manufacturing Pathways. These courses allow students to design, manufacture, investigate and evaluate products while developing practical skills that can be applied both at school and beyond.
Stage 6 (Years 11 & 12)
In stage 6 we also offers a strong range of VET courses, including Hospitality, Construction, Manufacturing Pathways, Business Services, and Manufacturing and Engineering which provide students with valuable industry skills, nationally recognised competencies and an understanding of workplace expectations. We also offer Industrial Technology – Timber or Multimedia, Food technology and Textiles and Design.
Across all TAS subjects, students are provided with meaningful practical experiences that connect classroom learning to the real world. Through designing, constructing, cooking, manufacturing, problem solving and working with industry-standard equipment, students develop practical skills, confidence and knowledge that can support future employment, apprenticeships, traineeships, TAFE and further study.
